Tungkol sa UGATLahi Artist Collective

UGATLahi artist collective was formed in 1992, as an informal response to the Philippine student movement’s theoretical inquiries into the role of culture and the visual arts in nation-building. The group eventually evolved into a cultural organization of cause-oriented and national democratic youth formations. It continues to popularize the campaign for a nationalist culture through engaging in fora, projects and collaborations with other art groups, engaging in grassroots organizing, and supporting the struggles of workers and urban poor communities throughout the National Capital Region. Among its more publicized initiatives is its production of protest effigies—Presidential parodies—timed for immolation during the annual State of the Nation Address demonstrations.
